The Vinoba Bhave University of Jharkhand has about 3,18,000 students and the faculty to student ratio once stood at an alarming 1:400. The university also witnessed a very low attendance and learning level.
All thanks to a few simple, innovative ideas, the University has now completely transformed in a positive way.
Some of the ideas are:
Topper students from each class were involved to teach other students in the case of faculty shortage. They were given an incentive of Rs 10,000 for teaching, which was further enhanced to Rs 15,000.
To encourage students to use the library, 78,000 volumes of important books were added to the library in just one year.
To top it, a special scheme was launched. Any student, who spent two hours in the library was given tea or coffee, students who spent four or more hours were offered lunch or dinner of their choice.
Gurdeep Singh, Vice Chancellor of the university shares more such interesting decisions, which completely transformed the university and the students’ mindset.
