SAI Sanctuary: India’s First Private Wildlife Sanctuary

Exciting journey of a couple and how they transformed over 300 acres of barren land into a wildlife sanctuary. The sanctuary, located in Kodagu, Karnataka is India’s first private wildlife sanctuary that hosts wild animals like Asian elephants and even Bengal Tigers.

Pamela and Anil Malhotra bought 55 acres of land from debt-ridden farmers 28 years ago and started planting native trees there. The sanctuary now hosts huge biodiversity. Recently, a rare specie of Otters, which wasn’t seen for over a century was spotted in SAI Sanctuary. Not just this, a family of wild elephants gave birth to two new children two weeks ago.
